Medicare Advantage Insurance Plans
You can obtain Medicare coverage through Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage Plan. A Medicare Advantage Plan (sometimes called “Part C”) is similar to an HMO or PPO and includes Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance). Coverage is provided by private insurance companies approved by Medicare and in most plans, you must use plan doctors, hospitals and other providers or you will incur more or all of the out-of-pocket costs.
Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans
Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) is used with Original Medicare and can help pay health care costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover. A Medigap policy is different than a Medicare Advantage Plan in that a Medigap policy only supplements your Original Medicare benefits and does not cover everything. The plan doesn’t include Prescription Drug Coverage (Part D, PDP) and does not change annually (although premiums may change).
Part D Prescription Drug Plans
Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (Part D) or PDP’s add drug coverage to your Original Medicare Plan, Medicare Cost Plans, Medicare Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) Plans and Medicare Medical Savings Account (MSA) Plans. Joining a Medicare drug plan can affect your Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) if it includes prescription drug coverage.
Final Expense
Final Expense Insurance frees family members from the distress of funeral and burial costs.
If you have term life insurance and you outlive the policy term, you may want to consider Final Expense insurance.
